Program Expectations

Scholars will participate in a year-long program that includes all-expenses paid intensive 2-week and 1-week summer institutes and mid-year 2-day meeting at UC San Diego in La Jolla, California.

The FOCUS program is part of the PRIDE consortium of several NHLBI-funded Summer Institute Training Programs. In addition to the UC San Diego program requirements, the junior faculty will participate in a 3-day PRIDE Annual Meeting in the Washington, D.C. area in the spring, as well as actively engage with a mentoring team via on-site and conference call meetings throughout the year.

Please note that the Summer Institutes are designed to be intensive and immersive. You are expected to complete homework and attend evening and weekend activities during the Institutes.
