Second Look
Please mark your calendars for the in person UC San Diego School of Medicine Second Look event on April 11-12, 2025. You will receive more information about Second Look via email closer to the event.
Upcoming Zoom Workshops
We will be hosting informational workshops via Zoom in early 2025 on financial aid, wellness, and more. You will receive information via email in the new year.
Important Decision Dates:
Applicants accepted to multiple medical schools during the 2024-2025 cycle can accept all offers, but they must narrow their list (i.e. decline some of these offers) following the timeline below:- April 15: applicants can hold no more than 3 offers after this date
- April 30: applicants can hold no more than 1 offer after this date
Choose Your Medical School (CYMS)
Please click on the Choose Your Medical School" (CYMS) tool on AMCAS to learn more. It is important to note that April 30 is NOT our "Commit to Enroll" date. After April 30, if UC San Diego is the one offer you are holding, you can remain on waiting lists of other schools if you wish. You will receive more information in April regarding "Commit to Enroll" date.
Financial Aid
After we receive your signed intent to matriculate form, the Admissions Status Check page will allow you to download our Financial Aid Application. You can access the School of Medicine Financial Aid website to view a brochure, sample budgets, and other useful information.
Student Affairs / Orientation
The Office of Admissions will now pass you along to our Office of Student Affairs (OSA). In early July, the OSA will be in touch with each of you regarding health clearance, personal information, and Orientation week. Please keep your contact information current with us, and check your e-mail often.

Summer Pre-Matriculation Prep Program
The UC San Diego School of Medicine's Office of Educational Support Services (OESS) offers an optional summer pre-matriculation course, Core Topics in Biomedical Sciences (CTBS), to all students admitted to the UC San Diego SOM or Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS).
Housing Information For University-Owned Apartments
UC San Diego-owned apartments and housing are a popular and generally less expensive option for UC San Diego students who want to live close to campus. Because of this, there is almost always a waiting list to get into these apartments. It is recommended that you put yourself on the waiting list as soon as you have received an acceptance offer from UC San Diego.
UC San Diego Housing Information
The School of Medicine does have a limited number of apartments reserved for our students, but can not guarantee to have enough room for all. Please email the Admissions Office somadmit@health.ucsd.edu with questions about these reserved apartments.

Entrance Health Requirements
It is a requirement of the School of Medicine that all incoming students fulfill health requirements prior to entering the university. Students must sign the School of Medicine Admission Health Requirements form and bring to a health care provider for completion. Requirements include:
- proof of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccination within the past 10 years
- proof of the Hepatitis B, 3 shot vaccine series
- positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and Hepatitis B
- tuberculosis screening must be performed within 6 months of school entry (preferably a Quantiferon blood test)
All health requirements must be fulfilled prior to clinical rotations. The appropriate forms and detailed information about health requirements are sent to new students well in advance of the deadline.
