Blanket Ceremony
UC San Diego School of Medicine greatly respects the original stewards of the land where our campus is located. In partnership with the Kumeyaay Nations, we hold an annual blessing ceremony and blanket presentation for our first-year Program in Medical Education – Transforming Indigenous Doctor Education (PRIME_TIDE) students.
We respect the heritage of all our students and work closely with both our campus and community partners to foster an environment where cultural backgrounds are valued. We also celebrate their professional commitment to the health and wellness of Indigenous populations.
2024 Blanket Ceremony
The third-annual Indigenous medicine Blanket Ceremony celebrated and honored the current UC San Diego PRIME-TIDE and Native American medical students, along with faculty and community members.
