UC San Diego School of Medicine greatly respects the original stewards of the land where our campus is located. In partnership with the Kumeyaay Nations, we hold an annual blessing ceremony and blanket presentation for our first-year Program in Medical Education – Transforming Indigenous Doctor Education (PRIME_TIDE) students.

We respect the heritage of all our students and work closely with both our campus and community partners to foster an environment where cultural backgrounds are valued. We also celebrate their professional commitment to the health and wellness of Indigenous populations.

Blanket and Blessing Ceremony Fosters Community and Connection

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine recently held its fourth annual Indigenous Medicine Ceremony, which honors and recognizes students who are training to provide health care to Native American and Indigenous populations.
