Mentorship
To provide PRIME-TIDE students with opportunities for various forms of support during their tenure at UC San Diego School of Medicine, this program provides mentorship from two different sources:
Indigenous Faculty
These faculty members provide support in the form of career progression and guidance from the perspective of being a Native American health care provider.
Enrolled PRIME TIDE students
These students provide support in a peer-to-peer relationship to help with questions that arise during the progression thru medical school and from the perspective of those who are dedicated to a career serving Native populations.
Matching of the student to one of each of these mentors occurs in the Fall of the first year of medical school. Students are free to contact these individuals to determine which would be a good fit.
Meetings with these mentors are at the discretion of the mentor and mentee. There is no requirement for a certain number of meetings.
