Dr. Sanghvi is a Professor and Clinical Vice-Chair and oversees all the clinical radiation oncologists in the Department. He is also the Hematologic Malignancies Section Chief and serves on several disease teams, including Head & Neck Cancers and CNS Tumors.
Dr. Sanghvi has considerable expertise using multiple treatment technologies including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), proton therapy, brachytherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in patients with head/neck and CNS tumors. He oversees the multidisciplinary Lymphoma Tumor Board and has developed novel delivery techniques using deep-inspirational breath hold (DIBH) to minimize potential toxicities in lymphoma patients undergoing mediastinal irradiation. He practices at both our La Jolla Facility and the Proton Center. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor multiple times by the San Diego Magazine.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Sanghvi serves as the Chair of the UC San Diego School of Medicine Recruitment and Admissions Executive Committee, the Medical School Standards and Promotions Committee, and the Medical Staff Executive Committee. He also serves on multiple national committees including the American Board of Radiology (ABR) Lymphoma/Leukemia Committee. He is a frequent invited speaker at national conferences and symposia, including the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). He was also on the planning committee for the inaugural American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Lymphoma Symposium held in La Jolla.
