Continuing & Accepted Students

The 2024-25 Health Sciences Financial Aid Application instructions will be emailed to continuing and accepted students in mid-March or shortly after acceptance. See Application Steps below for details.

FAFSA Application

All students needing financial aid (need and non-need based) are required to submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our FAFSA School Code is 001317.

Multi-Year Authorization

First time aid recipients need to complete the Multi-Year Authorization Form. This form will only need to be completed once during your tenure as a student in the School of Medicine or School or Pharmacy

Application Steps for Incoming Students

Follow the step-by-step guidance below to complete your UCSD Health Sciences Financial Aid Application:

Step 1

Complete your FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our FAFSA School Code is 001317. All students applying for aid (need and non-need based aid) are required to complete the FAFSA.

Step 2

Complete the UC San Diego Health Sciences Supplemental Financial Aid Application in addition to the FAFSA. Instructions for accessing the application will be emailed to all incoming SOM and SSPPS students upon acceptance to their program. Students wishing to be considered for need-based institutional scholarships and low interest loans are required to submit the supplemental application as well as all applicable parent Federal Tax Returns, Schedules and W-2 forms. Students wishing to apply just for Federal Direct Loans only need to submit the Federal Direct Loan Request form.

Step 3

After you have successfully submitted your FAFSA and completed the applicable UC San Diego Health Sciences Supplementary Application Forms, you are now ready to submit your application to the Health Sciences Financial Aid Office. Please log into the Health Sciences Financial Aid Forms Portal (pdf) to do this.

Step 4

You will be notified of any missing documents via email. Once you are provided a UC San Diego email address, please be sure to check this regularly as this will be the email address correspondence from our office will be sent to.

Step 5

Entrance counseling is offered online through UC San Diego TritonLink. In addition, the UC San Diego Health Sciences Financial Aid Office conducts a debt management session for entering students during the week of orientation. Every year, students receive a form with their individual indebtedness to help them keep a record of their debt and to ensure that they are aware of the level of their borrowing. In the final year of school, a debt management session is held to aid students in the repayment of their debt once they have graduated.​
