Using the Center

School of Medicine Interest Groups

SOM interest groups have dedicated funding that can be allocated for simulation activities. To use the center follow the following steps.

Residency Programs

GME training is generously supported by the UCSD Health System. If you would like to utilize the simulation center for the training of a UCSD trainee, please follow the following steps.

  • Identify a supervising faculty
  • Meet with sim center team. We will happily assist you as we walk through each of these steps during our meeting with you.

Research/Independent Study Projects

The SOM is dedicated to supporting research activities to advance medical education and the use of simulation.  If you have an idea for a simulation related research project or ISP please email simcenter@ucsd.edu to discuss your proposal.

Additional Practice

To ensure that the deliberate practice taking place in the simulation center leads optimal skill acquisition, we ask that all activities be supervised by a provider who is skilled and capable of performing the procedure unsupervised in clinical practice.  If there is a skill or task that you would like to practice that doesn't fall into any existing training, please email us (simcenter@ucsd.edu) to discuss how to create a space for it.
