Resident and Fellow as Teacher Program

The Resident and Fellow as Teacher Program equips trainees with the skills and confidence to be effective educators in clinical and academic settings. Through interactive workshops and practical teaching strategies, trainees learn how to engage learners, provide meaningful feedback and create supportive educational environments.

This program supports the development of teaching excellence early in medical careers and reinforces the vital role our learners play in shaping the next generation of physicians.  All of the programs (family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry) that participate in core MS3 teaching have sessions that prepare their residents for their role as teachers.  In addition, UC San Diego has an Academy of Clinician Scholars, which supports a program that provides educator skills to fellows from any of our advanced training programs.
