Bud Whipple Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Medical Alumni Association Class of 1981 established a partial, one-year scholarship in memory of Bud Whipple, a former medical student with Marfans Syndrome. He died unexpectedly in his third year from a dissecting aneurysm. Bud was loved for his human kindness, and throughout his life he made the most of his abilities in a selfless manner.

Scholarship: Awarded to one Second Year Medical Student
Award amount: $3,000
Criteria:

  1. The student must be in good academic standing.
  2. The student, like Bud, must have earned the respect of his or her classmates and faculty by growing through adversity in life.
  3. The student must have demonstrated an unselfish commitment to others, outstanding character, and displayed exceptional human kindness to his/her colleagues and patients.

Note: If the student selected for this scholarship is currently a financial aid recipient, this award would be part of his/her financial package.


Carrlene Harper Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of former OSA Staff member, Carrlene Harper.

Scholarship: Awarded to one Third Year Medical Student
Award amount: $3,000
Criteria:

  1. The student must be in good academic standing.
  2. The student must exhibit excellence in community service (local, medical school, or other) during enrollment in medical school.
  3. The student must demonstrate a financial need.
