Welcome

Welcome to the Gonias Laboratory website. Our research laboratory explores the function of proteases and their inhibitors as regulators of cell physiology. We are particularly interested in the role of proteases as ligands for cell signaling receptors, including the urokinase receptor (uPAR) and low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP1).  Find out what projects our lab is currently working on.

About the Lab

Our research laboratory group includes Project Scientists, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and research associates. These researchers apply diverse and advanced approaches to address scientific problems, including transgenic and other mouse model systems, mass spectrometry/proteomics, and high resolution imaging. We take full advantage of a rich and collaborative scientific community at UCSD, and closely collaborate with the Campana Neurosciences Laboratory, Richard Klemke and David Cheresh. Visitors are welcome!
