Chapter Volunteers
School of Medicine Chapters help alumni connect to each other and to the University with opportunities for social and professional networking. If you would like to volunteer with an established chapter (San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle), or start a local chapter of your own, please contact the
Alumni Director.
Local chapters are always looking for help in the following areas:
President
- Ambassador for chapter to the community at large
- Promotes the goals and mission of the Medical Alumni Association and collaborates with the School of Medicine Alumni Director
- Schedules and runs chapter leadership meetings
- Facilitates the creation of annual chapter programming plan and monitors the chapter budget
- Acts as liaison between the chapter, the School of Medicine National Alumni Board, the UCSD Alumni Association or other UC-wide Alumni leaders
Social Events
- Responsible for planning social networking mixers (Ex: Monthly Happy Hour, Dinner series for young alumni, Holiday mixer, family events)
- Responsible for building a social activities committee to assist in planning activities
- Recruits volunteers to champion and staff social events
- Liaison between UCSD staff and chapter for social events
Continuing Medical Education Events
- Responsible for planning and logistics of CME events
- Submits all required pre/post CME paperwork
- Recruits volunteers to staff events
Community Outreach
- Collaborate with local non-profit organizations in organizing group volunteer opportunities for School of Medicine Alumni
- Themes for volunteerism include: Education, Arts, Children and Youth, Animal Welfare, Health and Safety, Environment, Homelessness and Hunger, Womens Issues, Social Justice
Communications
- Responsible for marketing the chapter and events to alumni and students
- Responsible for promoting membership in chapter communications, programs and events
- Drafts invitations and correspondence
