PAUL RIVIERE, MD

PGY-4 Resident

  • BS | Biology | Stanford University 2015
  • MD | University of California, San Diego 2020

Dr. Paul Riviere is a current PGY-4 resident. Throughout his education, Paul has studied clinical trial design, biostatistics, and epidemiology knowing he wanted to pursue a career in oncology. He found Radiation Oncology an incredible opportunity to care for patients both in the definitive and palliative settings in an interventional field that is constantly evolving with new clinical data and technical capabilities.

As a health services researcher, Paul focuses on health disparities in oncology, as well as cancer survivorship issues. His work studying patterns of care and complications surrounding opioid analgesics prescribed for cancer pain has been funded by an R03 through the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

In his free time, Paul enjoys taking his dog to the beach, sailing, and, recently, learning to play pickleball with a group of co-residents. He also enjoys cooking for residency dinner parties and board game nights. Since Paul has lived in San Diego for most of his life, he is an excellent resource for prospective residents with questions.
