Dr. Edmund Qiao is a current PGY-2 resident. He has always been interested in oncology, both working with cancer patients as well as furthering cancer research. Radiation oncology is an amazing fit for Edmund because he is able to spend time with patients, while also incorporating his data science background in answering meaningful clinical research questions. As a medical student at UCSD, he experienced the supportive nature of the department in terms of resident wellness, research, education, and mentorship. He feels fortunate to be surrounded by a core of wonderful faculty and co-residents and is looking forward to advancing his research in data science and machine learning as it applies to prospective cohort studies.
Outside of medicine, Edmund enjoys ice hockey, cooking, and karaoke. For future residents, Edmund is happy to answer questions about research as well as moving to California.
