Dr. Benjamin Jacobs became interested in Radiation Oncology during his fourth year of medical school while rotating in the Radiation Oncology department at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The fusion of hard sciences with the art of patient care in the treatment of cancer immediately appealed to him.

UCSD is a great fit for Ben because of the program’s commitment to education, protected time for personal academics, mixture of unique and common cases, and extremely diverse research opportunities. As a born and raised Californian, Ben considers having extended family nearby during residency an extra benefit!

As an active duty military member, Ben will continue to serve in the military after residency. He is interested in researching the incidence of cancer in the military population as it relates to unique occupational exposures in the workplace.

Ben is married with two boys and enjoys his free time swimming, surfing, and camping with them.
