Allison Chen, M.D., M.P.H.

Allison has a diverse range of interests in healthcare. Through a Brown undergraduate concentration in Economics, she discovered an interest in health econometrics, a branch which utilized rigorous statistical methods to divulge human behavior in the consumption of health care and to evaluate ways to increase efficiency in health systems. She additionally pursued biostatistics, a discipline intersecting medicine and statistics, and channeled this interest into research which focused on understanding, measuring, and improving outcomes in patients with ocular disease, as well as the advancement of ophthalmic medical education. Over the years, her collaboration with her research mentors has led to over 30 publications and over 25 presentations at regional and national meetings. She is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Ophthalmic Epidemiology and Journal of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. Allison hopes to continue to make discoveries that will advance medicine and improve the efficiency and delivery of healthcare. In her free time, Allison enjoys hiking, tennis, cello, live music, art, nature, and exploring new places.
Adeleh Yarmohammadi, M.D.
2018-2021 /// Shahid Beheshti Medical University
Adeleh received her Medical Degree at Shahid Beheshti Medical University in Tehran and spent her internship year at UCLA in general surgery. She completed a research fellowship in ocular imaging at UC San Diego Hamilton Glaucoma Center where she investigated the role of blood flow in the pathogenesis of glaucoma using OCT-Angiography. Adeleh has published 19 papers, of which she is the first author on seven. She is an artist, a medical illustrator, and she aspires to become the “Frank Netter” of Ophthalmology. Her other interests include nutrition sciences, and she is passionate to promote healthy whole food plant-based eating to her patients and the society. Adeleh is excited to be back in San Diego for residency to serve the community, and play Badminton again with her teammates at UC San Diego Badminton team.
David Kuo, M.D.
2018-2021 /// University of California, San Diego
David earned his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, Los Angeles and his MD from the University of California, San Diego. He spent his internship year at Eisenhower Medical Center in Internal Medicine in Rancho Mirage, California. As an undergraduate, he collaborated on a flow-through high-throughput microfluidic platform combined with automated image analysis for systematic cytological screening of transitional cell carcinoma that won the Diagnostic Devices category of the NIH DEBUT Challenge. As a medical student, he spent a research year at the National Eye Institute where he trained a machine learning model to improve the differentiation of primary vitreoretinal lymphoma from non-infectious uveitis. His current research interests lie in the application of machine learning and statistical and causal inference to advance evidence-based medicine and improve the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmological diseases. In his free time, he enjoys exploring different ethnic cuisines, playing basketball, and hiking.
Kaileen Yeh, M.D.

Kaileen earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Biology with a concentration in molecular biology. She received her Medical Degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She spent her transitional year at Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, CO. Her extracurricular activities in college included playing cello in Penn Chamber and serving on the board of Penn Taiwanese Society. In medical school, she served as President of her medical school's chapter of the American Medical Association and co-founded a service organization focused on improving patient experience and health through music, which included organizing and performing in benefit concerts. Her undergraduate research focused on understanding the protein pathway for cell division in budding yeast. In medical school, her research involved cancer immunotherapy and later focused on correlating pre-operative and intraoperative biometry in cataract surgery. Interests include hiking, yoga, cooking, music, and exploring cuisines in new cities.
Aimee Chang, MD
2019-2022 /// Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Aimee received her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. She then received her Medical Degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital Center. Her research has focused on the relationship between sleep disorders and eye disease including diabetic retinopathy, floppy eyelid syndrome, and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.

Liane Dallalzadeh, MD
2019-2022 /// Harvard Medical School
Liane graduated summa cum laude with college honors and highest departmental honors from UCLA where she majored in Neuroscience and minored in Public Health. She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, where she served as the Executive Director of the Harvard Medical Student Review. Active in research, Liane was awarded the Dean's Prize in college for her work in long-term hippocampal synaptic plasticity and was elected to the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program for two consecutive years. During medical school, she conducted clinical research in cerebrovascular disease – investigating a chronic care model to reduce secondary stroke risk in medically underserved populations and predictors of therapeutic warfarin anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation patients, earning her a Junior Investigator Award from the American Heart/Stroke Association. Within ophthalmology, she has studied the association of timing of vitrectomy with visual outcome in endophthalmitis and use of smartphone fundoscopy in preclinical medical education.

Lingling Huang, MD, PhD
2019-2022 /// Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis
Lingling received her bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing China. She came to the US and earned her PhD in Molecular Cancer Biology at Duke University, North Carolina and MD at Washington University School of Medicine in St, Louis, Missouri. She completed her intern year at Massachusetts General Hospital in Preliminary Medicine program before moving to San Diego. Her research involved signaling pathways in oncogenesis and targeted therapy, mouse models of lung cancer, cancer stem cells and cell of origins in the different subtype of lung cancers.

Mark Lin, MD

Mark earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Los Angeles then earned his medical degree from UC Irvine. His internship was completed at Santa Cara Valley Medical Center in Internal Medicine. His research involved visual field analysis in glaucomatous optic neuropathy, glaucoma surgical outcomes and risk factors, and determinants of diabetic eye examination guideline compliance.

Justin Arnett, MD
2020-2023 /// University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Justin graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Neurobiology from Harvard University. He has contributed to multiple projects related to medical device development, including exploring the surgical practices and applications of Brain-Computer Interfaces and studying optical nanoparticles as biologic therapeutics.
He received a master's degree in Translational Medicine at UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, where he assisted a startup company in passing its medical device through FDA regulations. Within ophthalmology, he completed a study demonstrating the reduction of exudative activity in age-related macular degeneration following post-injection endophthalmitis. Justin completed his medicine internship at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, where he started a program to provide clinical outreach to the families of COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
Interests include: Playing the guitar, playing and watching ice hockey, cooking, running, weightlifting, hiking, and video games.
Medi Eslani, MD
2020-2023 /// Tehran School of Medical Sciences
Medi graduated medical school in Tehran with honors then spent his internship as a transitional year at OPTI West/Hemet Valley Medical Center Program in California where he was selected as the most outstanding transitional year intern.
He has published 50 translational and clinical papers in the most prestigious journals mostly focused on stem cell therapy for cornea and ocular surface reconstruction. He received several awards and honors including the best posters at ARVO, AAO, and ASCRS and the prestigious NIH/NEI K12 clinician-scientist development program award.
Interests include professional photography, camping, hiking, and cooking.
Jenny Hu, MD
2020-2023 /// UC San Diego School of Medicine
Jenny received her bachelor's degree in biology at Duke University and completed her internship at UC San Francisco in Fresno, California. She has been a research assistant at the City of Hope National Cancer Center, Duke University School of Medicine, and the Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego. At Shiley, she assisted in the design of a clinical study on the cornea and helped characterize ocular neural crest stem cells derived from human iPSCs.
In her undergraduate career, she investigated the effects of microRNA on glioblastoma stem cells and the protective effects of DNA2 on telomeres in promoting gene stability. During medical school, Jenny obtained a Master of Advanced Studies Degree in Clinical Research where she developed an interest in health services research, specifically in cost-effectiveness analysis and Markov modeling, for which she received an NIH TL1 Clinical Research Training Award. She is passionate about providing more cost-effective care to her patients and making vision healthcare more accessible to all.
Interests include yoga, indoor cycling, aerial silks, cooking, digital art, and writing web novels.
Maya Yamane, MD
2020-2023 /// UC SAN DIEGO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Maya received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from Columbia University. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of Hawai'i where she was awarded preliminary medicine resident of the year. Her research has included visual field analysis in neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmic medical education, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, and drug delivery systems using nanocoating.
She has been an active participant in community outreach including a free clinic in New York City and non-profit organizations in Bhutan and Cape Town, South Africa. As an elected member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, she is dedicated to providing compassionate patient care of the highest quality.
In her free time, Maya enjoys hiking, cooking, and hula and Tahitian dance.
