In 2017, Iris and Matthew Strauss generously donated $1 million to the University of California San Diego to support a clinical trial designed to develop personalized cancer vaccines—a breakthrough treatment that could help patients like their daughter fight the disease using their own immune system.
Additional donations were received thanks to Kristin and Wyatt Peabody, who worked to raise $200,000 in additional donations to begin this clinical trial.
