About Diabetes

Over 20 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes with 1.6 million new cases diagnosed every year. Diabetes (medically known as diabetes mellitus) is the name given to disorders in which the body fails to regulate blood glucose (sugar) levels. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to be contributing factors.

There are two major types diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2.
