    The Department of Pathology incudes four divisions and is responsible for almost all diagnostic tests that involve analysis of tissue specimens, blood samples, and other body fluids. Pathology laboratories conduct the genome sequencing studies that support patient care. Additionally the department we oversees blood transfusions and bone marrow transplantations.

    The Department of Pediatrics is the second largest department within the School of Medicine, comprised of 16 Divisions, with approximately 200 faculty, 54 residents, 3 chief residents, 80 post-doctoral fellows (MDs/PhDs), and approximately 300 staff employees. Services are housed at a variety of locations, including Rady Children’s Hospital , UC San Diego School of Medicine campus, Jacobs Medical Center,  or the UC San Diego Medical Center  in Hillcrest.

    The Department of Pharmacology advances knowledge through research and education in pharmacology, a scientific discipline that explores how chemicals and therapeutic agents affect biological systems. Pharmacology bridges chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and human disease. The goal is to find better therapeutic interventions to treat diseases, as single agents or as part of multimodal precision therapies.

    Founded in 2006, the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Science is committed to a  bipartite mission including Clinical Medicine and Academic Research. The multi-displinary team includes radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, nurses, dosimetrists, and researchers dedicated to advancing patient care and pushing the frontier of clinical medicine.
