How to Apply

Apply to SURF 2024

To apply for the SURF program, follow these 3 steps:

  1. Complete the SURF Application
  2. Submit the following in a single PDF within the application portal:
    • Personal statement essay (1–2 pages) describing the following insights:
      • A brief description of your most meaningful research experience and future career goals
      • Why you are interested in the MSTP-SURF program
      • Challenges/obstacles you have had to overcome in your life and academic career
    • University/college transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
  3. Provide 2 letters of recommendation:
    • Ask 2 recommenders email their letters of recommendation to: surfmstp@health.ucsd.edu with the subject line: "[Applicant Last] _ [First Name] - SURF 2024 - Letter of Recommendation"

Deadline

The deadline to apply to this program is February 2, 2024.
