Pathway programs are designed to provide guidance and support to students of all ages who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine. Programs include opportunities for middle school, high school, community college and undergraduate students.
California Medicine Scholars Program
The California Medicine Scholars Program is a pathway program for community college students to explore premedical opportunities that are not traditionally provided in community college.
Doc-4-A-Day
Doc-4-A-Day is held quarterly to provide high school students and teachers learning opportunities within the medical and pharmacy school through hands-on clinical experiences.
Latinx Pre-Med Initiative
Funded by the UC San Diego Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Office and the School of Medcine Dean’s Office, we aspire to become a medical school Hispanic-Serving Institution. This four-month program offers culturally relevant mentorship to 10 pre-medical students by providing assistance with the medical school application and interview process, conference support, and fiscal support for an MCAT preparation course.
CA-NARCH Student Development Program
The California Native American Research Centers for Health (CA-NARCH) Student Development Program is a partnership between Indian Health Council (IHC), serving 9 regional tribes, and California State University San Marcos, UC San Diego, San Diego State University and Palomar Community College. It aims to increase the number of AI/AN and URM culturally competent researchers who are committed to addressing public health issues within Native communities.
