Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean, School of Medicine (Job# JPF03884)

The Dean is responsible for leading UC San Diego School of Medicine’s overall strategic vision; developing and implementing initiatives that enhance teaching, research, and clinical care across its multiple departments and units; and establishing collaborative partnerships across campus and the community to advance its goals of educating compassionate, skillful knowledgeable students. The dean serves a critical role of creating a diverse community of scholars who push the boundaries of scientific discovery and develop innovative therapies that will transform the lives of patients locally and nationally.

Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine, Chair (Job #JPF03880)

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean, School of Medicine, the Chair will be responsible for the Department’s overall management, academic planning, budget, personnel, resource allocation, and programs. The Chair is charged with establishing and advancing the Department’s strategic direction. To meet operational needs and strategic goals, the Chair will hire and retain outstanding faculty and staff, advocate to campus leaders for critical resources, and partner with other units to advance the department’s educational and scientific prominence. The Chair will benefit from working alongside exceptional staff and have the partnership of a skilled and committed executive leadership team.

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean, School of Medicine, with a dotted reporting line to the CEO of UC San Diego Health, the Chair will be responsible for the Department’s overall management, academic planning, budget, personnel, resource allocation, and programs.
