The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) coordinates complex faculty issues with Health Sciences and several Campus Offices to facilitate faculty compliance equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Programs for Advising & Counseling
|Campus Counsel||OFA reports to the Chancellor and to the Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel, this office provides legal advice, retains outside counsel, manages litigation, reviews university policies, and works closely with other administrative offices to ensure legal compliance and to respond to disputes.|
Physician Well-Being Committee||Dedicated to recognizing and offering assistance to staff physicians who have problems with substance abuse or physical or mental illness, which impair their ability to practice safely and effectively. Confidentiality will be assured depending upon the severity of the situation and the immediate risk to patient safety. If you are anxious about making this first call, you may want to contact the committee Chair initially without disclosing the name of your colleague, just to learn more about how the committee can help.|
|CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center||CARE offers free and confidential services to UC San Diego students, staff and faculty who are victims and/or survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. |

|Health Sciences Healer Education Assessment and Referral (HEAR) Program||This program is an important service offered to medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, pharmacists, and faculty for the purpose of confidentially identifying those among us who suffer from burnout, depression, and other problems that interfere with professional, academic, and personal functioning. |
