Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgery

In the UC San Diego Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgery program, headed by Alan Hemming, MD, internationally recognized transplant surgeons perform abdominal organ transplants in both adults and children. UC San Diego’s abdominal transplant surgeons have extensive experience in performing kidney, pancreas, liver, and multi-organ transplants. Innovative transplant surgeries, including living related liver transplant and domino liver transplant, are offered.

Transplants in children are performed under the UC San Diego-Rady Children’s Hospital Pediatric Transplant Program, which serves children from Southern California and throughout the Pacific Southwest. The program’s pediatric transplant surgeons are expert in advanced and complex transplantation procedures including living related liver transplant, domino liver transplant, multi-organ transplant, and pancreas transplant.
