Dr. Charley Coffey is the recipient of 2021 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation. This prestigious award is given annually to a UC San Diego faculty member who demonstrates both clinical excellence and outstanding compassion in the delivery of care and who shows respect for patients, their families, and healthcare colleagues. Dr. Coffey was selected by a committee of UCSD faculty and administrators from the nominations submitted by faculty and graduating medical students from the class of 2021. This honor -- given by colleagues and peers -- signifies recognition of the ability to bring to patient care the highest standard of humanity and sensitivity. As the recipient of the Leonard Tow Award Dr. Coffey gave the keynote address at the White Coat Ceremony for the entering UCSD School of Medicine Class of 2025, and led new students in their first recitation of the Hippocratic Oath.
