UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest
UC San Diego Medical Center is a 386-bed multispecialty academic hospital that offers comprehensive emergency care and operates the region's first Level I Trauma Center, which treats the highest level of critical injury. Patients have access to all major medical specialties, including a certified comprehensive stroke center, transplant program, regional burn center, and labor and delivery unit.

UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center (includes Thornton Pavilion)
Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health is a 245-bed advanced medical center, named in recognition of a $75 million gift from the Joan and Irwin Jacobs family. The 10-story, 509,500-square-foot facility opened on Nov. 20, 2016. Its medical services include advanced surgery, cancer care, clinical trials, birthing options and more. Its striking architectural design is complemented by a 150-piece Healing Arts Collection.

UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center
Moores Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the San Diego region. Such centers are prominent among the leading institutions in the nation dedicated to scientific innovation and clinical excellence, and studies show that outcomes are better at NCI-designated centers.

VA San Diego Healthcare System
The VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) has 296 authorized beds, including skilled nursing beds, and operates several regional referral programs including cardiovascular surgery and spinal cord injury. VASDHS has one of the largest research programs in the VA nationally with a budget of $41.3 million (FY 2016), 210 principal investigators, and 698 projects.

Rady Children's Hospital
Rady Children’s Hospital is a nonprofit, 551-bed pediatric-care facility dedicated to excellence in care, research and teaching. It is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. In affiliation with the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, it is the region’s teaching hospital for the next generation of pediatric physicians and a major pediatric clinical research center.
