Dr. Catheryn Yashar is a Professor and Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs. She is Chief of the Breast Cancer Section and a member of the Gynecologic Cancer Treatment Team. She is also Chief Medical Officer of the UC San Diego Health System.
An internationally-recognized radiation oncologist in the treatment of breast and gynecologic cancers, Dr. Yashar has a particular expertise in the use of novel brachytherapy approaches in these disease sites. She is on the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and is a past President of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS). She is the Senior Editor (Gynecologic Cancers) for Gynecology for Advances, and an Gynecologic Cancer Editor of the on-line journal Up-to-Date. She is also an Editor of the Principles and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology, the premier textbook in Gynecologic Oncology. She has published over 100 journal articles, reviews and book chapters, focused on gynecologic malignancies, breast cancer and brachytherapy.
Dr. Yashar serves on multiple Medical School and Hospital Committees, having chaired the Medical School Curriculum Committee, the Moores Cancer Committee, the Credentialing Committee and the Council on Education Policy. A frequent invited speaker at national and international cancer symposia, she has been named a Top Doctor by the San Diego Magazine multiple times. She has been named a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
