Dr. White was born and raised near Sacramento and is a lifelong Californian. He graduated from UC San Diego in 2006, summa cum laude, with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and a B.A. in Political Science. He worked in biotechnology and then received a full tuition scholarship to attend UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree in 2011 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society at UCLA. Dr. White was motivated to pursue a career in oncology after seeing the personal impact that a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on an individual through experiences with his family members. He completed an internship in preliminary internal medicine at Stanford University, followed by residency training in radiation oncology at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and Stanford University, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. White joined UC San Diego as faculty in 2016. He has broad clinical interests and treats multiple types of malignancies, including cancers of the genitourinary system, skin, lung, and sarcoma. He has a special interest in gastrointestinal, lymphoma, head and neck, central nervous system, and gynecologic cancers. Dr. White has diverse and extensive clinical experience, and is adept at managing complex multidisciplinary cancer care and utilizing cutting edge technologies. His expertise includes stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), conformal radiation therapy (CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), and high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences, he enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. 

His research interests have focused on clinical outcomes research in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, lymphomas, and central nervous system malignancies. His research has been published in journals such as International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, Radiotherapy and Oncology, and American Journal of Clinical Oncology, among others. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals.

Outside of work, Dr. White enjoys cycling, backpacking, gardening, international travel, and cooking with his wife.
