Dr. Lee is an Assistant Professor at California State University San Marcos Department of Social Work. She has a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a PhD from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis where she was also an NIMH Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Center for Mental Health Services Research. Dr. Lee’s broad research interest is to improve services for vulnerable children with mental health needs and their families experiencing the intersection of the child welfare and special education systems.

Research Focus

Dr. Lee’s current research focuses on examining special education involvement and physical health of crossover youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Towards investigating ways to increase inter-systemic collaboration, Dr. Lee is partnering with Project Fleur-de-lis (PFDL), the largest school-based mental health program in New Orleans. Dr. Lee is also continuing her work on accreditation by exploring its relationship with quality and the financial health of nonprofit human service organizations. She will continue her research with another study on accreditation of child welfare agencies using National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-Being II data.
