The Department of Psychiatry hosted a group of 10 practitioners and university faculty from Ukraine who are in training to become national trainers in addiction medicine in their country. The study visit is one of the activities of the SAMHSA/PEPFAR funded International Addiction Technology Transfer Center - Ukraine that is directed by Drs. Igor Koutsenok and David Grelotti. While in the US, the participants will get the exposure to a variety of addiction treatment services in multiple settings - community, prisons, drug courts, LGBT, veterans, child and adolescents. The ultimate goal is to develop a core group of capable educators and trainers in Ukraine who will start shifting the addiction training and workforce development toward humane and evidence-based practices.
