UC San Diego Medical Center, is a modern 440-bed full-service teaching and research facility built in 1963 and renovated in 1993. The medical center is located in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, about twenty minutes by car from the main UCSD campus in La Jolla.
San Diego Veterans Administration Medical Center (SDVAMC), is a 350-bed facility located next to the main campus of UCSD in La Jolla. It is one of the most modern, best equipped VA hospitals in the country. The professional staff consists almost entirely of full-time members of the UCSD faculty.
Other training facilities include Outpatient Psychiatry Services of Children’s Hospital and Health Center, St. Vincent de Paul Community Village, Neurology Services at the UCSD Medical Centers in Hillcrest and La Jolla, and Mercy Hospital Medical Center.
Rady Children's Hospital Medical Behavioral Unit
Rady Children's Hospital runs the only child and adolescent medical/psychiatric inpatient unit in San Diego County. The primary purpose of this unit is to provide multidisciplinary treatment to children and adolescents with comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions. The Medical Behavioral Unit is staffed by a combination of professionals with medical expertise and with mental health and behavioral experience, including specialized experience with eating disorders. Staff includes nurses, social workers, licensed psychiatric technicians, dietitians and physicians from the hospital, adolescent medicine and child psychiatry services.
UC San Diego Eating Disorders Center
UC San Diego Eating Disorders Center is a university-based, non-profit, Center of Excellence. In addition to our Research Program and our Treatment Program--we also have a thriving Training Program teaching researchers and clinicians at all stages of their schooling: post-bac research assistants, masters and doctoral practicum/externs students, masters and doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, dietary students, medical students, residents, and fellows.
