Department of Psychiatry Interest Groups
Addiction Special Interest Group
The Addictions Special Interest Group (ASIG) is a multidisciplinary consortium of clinicians, educators, researchers, and trainees. It is lead by Drs. Carla Marienfeld and Olivier George.
Vision
Our work will impact the health, lives, and experiences of people struggling with substance use disorders nationally and internationally. We will work to shift the culture of addiction from stigmatization to treatment, care, and recovery.
Mission
- To cultivate and nurture a community of addiction-interested parties to advance and facilitate excellence in clinical care, research, and education and training related to addictive disorders.
- To contribute to the mission of the UC San Diego Department of Psychiatry, the UC San Diego Health System, and the UC San Diego School of Medicine via increased coordination and organization of addiction related parties.
Meetings are held monthly on the second Friday from 1:00 am – 2:00 pm. Contact Sabrina Ortega (s1ortega@health.ucsd.edu) for more information.
