The Hematology/Oncology Division provides state-of-the-art care to children with blood disorders and cancer. The division serves all of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and patients in South Riverside County.

Through collaborations with the UCSD Moores Cancer Center, which has achieved the National Cancer Institute designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Division of Pediatric Hema­tology/ Oncology is also devoted to basic and translational cancer research, experimental therapeutics and medical education.

Donald Durden, M.D., Ph.D. – an internationally acclaimed physician scientist known for his work on childhood cancer research and drug therapies - has been appointed the new Vice-Chair of Research in the Department of Pediatrics, UC San Diego.
