Resident Advocacy and Community Pediatrics State Collaborative

Developed novel approaches to teaching pediatric residents advocacy and community pediatrics through collaboration with nine other pediatric residency programs in California. Intended impact was to improve legislative advocacy curriculum.

Results: There were a total of 627 Residents and 67 Faculty impacted. The preliminary analysis indicates that there was a positive impact on learners, faculty and programs. The majority of learners agreed with the statement that the curriculum strengthened their intention to participate in community pediatrics after residency. Similarly, the vast majority of learners agreed that the curriculum had increased their community partnership skills. 60% of learners agree or strongly agreed that their advocacy skills had improved.
