The University of California, San Diego's new Pediatric Diabetes Research Center (PDRC) in collaboration with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is hosting a Walk to Cure Diabetes Event at UC San Diego on Sunday, November 8, 2009.

Physicians from UCSD and Rady Children's Hospital annually treat over one-thousand children with type 1 diabetes in San Diego. By bringing scientists and clinicians together in one location, the PDRC can provide the expanded collaboration that is vital to discovery.

The San Diego Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) serves all of San Diego County and extends north to Orange County. The Chapter provides valuable information about juvenile diabetes to people with diabetes, their families, and the general public. It also holds numerous successful events that raise much-needed funds for diabetes research.

JDRF's Walks are family-friendly, held at great locations, and feature plenty of entertainment, food, and fun. Over 500,000 people at 200 Walk sites nationwide participate in our annual walks.

There are many ways to contribute and many promising research projects to support. Please join our extraordinary effort to treat, prevent and ultimately cure type 1 diabetes.

UC San Diego’s PDRC and JDRF invite you to join us at the UC San Diego Walk and become one of the 5000 people that will walk together to make a difference in the lives of those with type 1 diabetes. You'll have a great time, get some exercise, and, most importantly, be a part of the cure!
