The first annual Master Clinician Scholar Award was presented December 2007. The MCS Committee created a detailed review and selection process. The MCS is defined as “… one who excels at assessment of the whole patient and delivery of the highest quality care. Superb history and examination skills are the base of this expertise. S/he is the ultimate diagnostician who creates effective management strategies and communicates and interacts compassionately with the patient and family. Respect for and partnership with all staff working in the clinical environment is critical. Exceptional understanding of pathophysiology is prerequisite.” This year’s awardees are: Dr. Ken Lee Jones, Endocrinology and Dr. Marilyn Jones, Clinical Genetics.
