Given the
rapidly changing conditions of the COVID-19 global outbreak, University of
California President Janet Napolitano issued a directive for all members of
the UC community: o
Faculty
are instructed to avoid all non-essential, university-related travel to
countries that have COVID-19 Level 3 Travel Health Notices: China, Iran,
Italy and South Korea and COVID-19 Level 2 Health Notices which
currently includes Japan. o
All
faculty and academic appointees are requested to obtain prior approval for
all essential travel to these countries until further notice. Essential travel does not include
travel to attend educational conferences in these countries. o
To
request
pre-approval for essential travel, academic appointees must contact Aditi
Zaveri at amzaveri@ucsd.edu,
who will facilitate routing and approval for these
requests. UC
Travel has posted detailed information regarding how to reconcile expenses
for canceled or postponed travel bookings due to COVID-19. ·
Step
by step detailed instructions can be found here
on BLINK. The
University urges all faculty, academic
appointees and staff to consider whether any mode of personal travel
is necessary and encourages the campus community to seek alternatives to
business-related travel such as virtual meetings or conference calls.
