Pediatric ID Fellow

I am from Albuquerque, NM. I graduated from the US Naval Academy with a BS in Chemistry and from Tulane University with an MD, MPH in 2013. I did my pediatric residency here in San Diego at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. I was a general pediatrician at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton for 2 years before starting an ID fellowship here at Rady.

My time here at Rady has been terrific. The patient population is incredibly diverse, offering the opportunity to see a wide variety of infectious disease complexes encompassing the entire spectrum of infectious pathogens. For my fellowship project, I am leveraging next generation sequencing for pathogen detection in pediatric osteoarticular infections. My main interest is in bedside medicine, so the opportunity to engage in translational research that impacts care in real time has been rewarding.
