This pipeline consists of academic enrichment programs at different levels of the educational pathway to provide at-risk groups and underrepresented minorities with the tools they need to successfully progress through the educational pipeline in health and sciences.

Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE)

This center supports the development of scientific knowledge and research skills of Hispanic students so that they may successfully complete their studies and become physicians capable of achieving senior rank on academic faculties. The Center is improving the retention of Hispanic junior faculty so that they progress toward senior rank at UCSD SOM.

The Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools provides training programs for Hispanic graduate students to provide mentored research experience in HIV/AIDS in the US-Mexico Border region. Pictured fellows conduct a site visit to a new ambulatory prevention and treatment clinic in Tijuana, Mexico.
