Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics
Neelesh Tipnis, MD, is an associate clinical professor and the Director of Gastrointestinal Motility and Functional Bowel Disorders. Dr. Tipnis completed his residency in General Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at UC San Diego and gained extensive additional training in gastrointestinal motility and functional bowel disorders at the Medical College of Wisconsin where he served as a faculty member from 2004-2011.
Clinical and Research Interests
Since joining our Division in 2011, Dr. Tipnis will help build the west coast’s first comprehensive center for children with gastrointestinal motility and functional bowel disorders. The new motility Move It Center, will help children with conditions such as swallowing disorders, feeding intolerance, cyclic vomiting syndrome and functional abdominal pain, mitigate disease morbidity and improve child and family quality of the life.
Dr. Tipnis currently serves on the Motility Committee for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastronenterology and is Vice-Chair of the Pediatrics Section for the World Organization of Specialized Studies on Diseases of the Esophagus.
