Dr. Daniela Castano is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and an associate physician at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
After graduating from medical school at Universidad de la Sabana, Colombia. Dr. Castano was involved in research in macular diseases and pediatric ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer institute. She then joined the Neonatology department at the University of Miami to study variability of the heart rate in premature neonates. Dr. Castano completed an internship in pediatric liver and intestinal transplant at the Miami transplant institute before her pediatrics internship and residency at Hotlz Children’s Hospital affiliated with the University of Miami. Dr. Castano completed her fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at UCSF, where she was trained in treating a wide variety of gastrointestinal diseases. She received clinical fellowship awards from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that supported her 3 years of fellowship and research. Dr. Castano research interest is in Cystic Fibrosis Liver Disease (CFLD) and stem cell differentiation.
