All rotations are at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego unless otherwise noted.
Mercy = Scripps Mercy Hospital
NMCSD = Naval Medical Center, San Diego
UCSD = University of California, San Diego Medical Center

Most of the fellows’ clinical time is spent in the emergency department at Rady Children’s Hospital. Other clinical training occurs at the UC San Diego Medical Center/Hillcrest, the only state-designated Comprehensive Emergency Department in San Diego County which serves an urban, underserved population. This facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center and the county’s only burn center. The fellows have general emergency medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), toxicology, and burn rotations at UC San Diego.

Additional training occurs at our partner hospitals: fellows rotate on trauma surgery and general emergency medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital, a high-acuity, urban, Level I trauma center; and on general emergency medicine, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit rotations at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, one of the largest military medical facilities in the United States. The fellows also take graduate-level classes in epidemiology and biostatistics at UC San Diego.
