A major initiative of the Center for Perinatal Discovery will be FAMILIA, in which we plan to recruit 1000 women prior to conception or during the first trimester of pregnancy and collect clinical data and biosamples before, during, and after pregnancy. This population-based resource will allow us to not only identify associations between specific risk factors and outcomes, but also to probe the mechanisms that link those risk factors to specific outcomes.
