Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

At UCSD Medical Center, we offer a full range of state-of-the-art reproductive healthcare associated with a woman's ability to become pregnant, to have normal menstrual cycles and to benefit from appropriate treatment in postmenopausal life. The extent of services includes patients with infertility or uncertainty about fertility potential, menstrual disorders including adolescent girls and perimenopausal women, conditions of hormone imbalance, hormone producing tumors, as well as problems related to menopause and aging.

An extensive educational program includes teaching activities for medical and graduate students, residents, basic science postdoctoral fellows, and clinical fellows in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and junior faculty scholars. In addition to the regular curriculum, medical students are offered clinical clerkships and elective courses. Resident teaching includes interactive didactics and a teaching workshop. Fellows are mentored by outstanding basic and clinical research faculty.

As an academic center, we also conduct cutting-edge clinical, translational and basic research, which addresses how the brain and pituitary regulate the menstrual cycle, the basic biology and disorders of the ovary including excessive androgen production, causes of menstrual irregularity, the biology of embryonic development of the reproductive tissues, puberty, menopause, and aging in women.
