Applied Precision OMX Structured Illumination Microscopy / TIRF

What it's good for:

  • Generating multi-color 3D fluorescent images at resolutions down to 100nm
  • 4 fluorescent colors acquired simultaneously or sequentially
  • Super resolution on fixed cells or sections on a slide with a coverslip (#1.5)
  • Conventional light microscopy on live cells in a coverslip bottom chamber (#1.5) 
  • Rapid timelapse acquisition in conventional light microscopy mode 
  • Cells in culture can be kept at 37 degrees with 5% CO2 (only BSL1 Cell Lines)

What it's NOT good for:

  • Thick tissue (>15 microns of acquisition) 
  • Large travel distance

Principles of Operation:

Laser light passes through a high-resolution grid onto the sample, generating images of moire' interference patterns as well as the high-resolution information of the sample. By acquiring images with the interference pattern at different angles, the high resolution sample information can be reconstructed, doubling the resolution of the microscope.
