Postdoctoral position available to study spinal cord injury and axon regeneration
A postdoctoral position is immediately available to study the molecular mechanisms of cellular (glial, neuronal, etc) responses to experimental spinal cord injury in the Department of Neurosciences on the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine main campus, La Jolla, California. The lab focuses on axon growth and regeneration after central nervous system (CNS) injury. Molecular biology, mouse genetics, viral vectors, in vitro neuronal culture, in vivo spinal cord injury models, optical in vivo imaging and CLARITY 3D imaging are some of the tools used in our studies. Recent projects focused on a MAP3K pathway in neuronal and glial responses to injury and age-dependent changes in neuronal responses to injury. Excellent possibilities exist to collaborate with local scientists in neuroscience, genomics and other disciplines. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply via email to the principal investigator: Dr. Binhai Zheng (firstname.lastname@example.org), Professor of Neurosciences, with a letter of interest, CV, and names and contact information of 3 references who are familiar with the candidate’s work. Preference will be given to recent Ph.D. graduates in neuroscience or a related field with relevant research experience.
