BIOM 272A and 274A: Seminars in Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics
Karen Oegema, PhD.
Binhai Zheng, Ph.D.
This course will provide perspective on selected seminars representing diverse areas of modern biology, including molecular cell biology, genetics/genomics, developmental biology, neurobiology and stem cell biology. The course consists of one selected seminar (see schedule below) and one additional meeting (Friday 11:00-1:00 pm) per week. The Friday meetings will combine a student-led discussion of the previous week's seminar with an introduction to the upcoming seminar by a guest lecturer. The guest lecturer (a senior student, postdoctoral fellow or faculty member from the local research community who works on a related research topic) will introduce the upcoming seminar following a format designed to encourage student participation.
Friday meetings (post- and pre- sessions):
Time: Friday 11:00 am - 1:00 pm (April 6 - June 1)
Place: CMME 2047
Weekly seminars: most are on a Thursday in the CMG large conference room except two (See schedule below)
* There are two pre-sessions scheduled for the first Friday meeting on April 6, followed immediately by the first seminar on the same day
* There is no class or seminar scheduled for the week of May 14-18 due to the BMS program retreat.
* Pizza lunch provided for the Friday meetings
