Our research goals are to further our understanding of the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and to identify novel pathways and targets for therapy development.
We are particularly interested in the early events in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and have developed a cell-surface based sorting method for induced pluripotent stem cell derived cultures.
This technique enriches neural stem cells, neurons and glia to near purity, and is reproducible and scalable for subsequent applications in disease modeling, drug screening and transplantation.
Our system can be applied to study other types of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease and Frontotemporal dementia.
