The FIND Lab uses advanced MRI methods to visualize both the structure of the brain and, more importantly, its function. Most Neurodegenerative Disorders have no obvious brain abnormalities when a standard clinical MRI is performed early in the disease. Despite this inability to detect the problem using standard imaging methods, advanced research techniques are being developed to identify brain changes at an earlier stage. Developing such imaging methods to ‘catch’ disease early and track its progression provides patients and their doctors with a better opportunity to slow progression, minimize symptoms, and positively impact the long-term course of the disease.
