The Outpatient Experience

Outpatient training is a major focus of the UC San Diego Neurology Residency Training Program.

Clinics

Each resident has a weekly continuity clinic that alternates between the VAUCSD Hillcrest, and Executive Drive/Chancellor Park. Residents follow and manage their own patients in these clinics throughout the entire 3 years of training.

Outpatient clinics are scheduled at each of the university-affiliated medical centers. The Executive Drive/Chancellor Park complex in La Jolla is at the cornerstone of the faculty outpatient specialty and general neurology clinics.

Outpatient clinic rotations combine a package of different general and specialty neurology clinics including stroke, epilepsy, neurosurgery, neurodegenerative disorders, dementia, and peripheral nerve disorders, as well as psychiatry and physical rehabilitation.

Urgent neurology clinics are held weekly at the VA hospital. Residents on the epilepsy, pediatric neurology or neuromuscular rotations spend intensive time with the faculty in those subspecialty clinics.
