Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology/EEG Track

Welcome to the University of California, San Diego Clinical Neurophysiology–EEG Track Fellowship Training Program!

This is a one year ACGME-accredited neurophysiology program with a focus in EEG and epilepsy surgery. The goal of the fellowship program at UCSD is to train outstanding clinical neurologists to become leaders in the fields of Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. Our Fellows rotate at the UCSD Medical Center and the VA Medical Center in La Jolla.

Fellows gain a wide range of training experience in:

  • Inpatient Adult Video EEG monitoring (scalp and intracranial).
  • Continuous EEG monitoring of critically ill inpatients
  • Routine/outpatient/ambulatory EEG interpretation
  • Adult Epilepsy Outpatient management
  • Presurgical evaluation of Epilepsy patients
  • Electrocorticography
  • Functional Mapping and electrical stimulation
  • Strategies /Design  of Epilepsy surgical planning
  • Neurostimulation devices (VNS and RNS)
  • Evoked Potentials
  • EMG/NCVs
  • Pediatric EEG


A sample schedule for the fellowship is listed below. This schedule allows our fellows to have continuous development of their skills in neurophysiology. A strong emphasis is placed on learning recording techniques and treatments in epilepsy.
